The World Customs Organization published the "Customs and IPR Report 2010", with all the activities held by Customs in what concerns Intellectual Property Rights enforcement. In this report it's possible to find not only a global overview of counterfeiting and piracy, but also a sectorial and regional approach to the results achieved, allowing the identification of trends, origin and destination of this products.
Portugal is in the top 10 list in terms of seizure items by countries, being at the same time in the top 10 destination countries. As it was noticed in other previous reports, 68% of the total of counterfeit shipments departed from China.
This publication has highlighting the important work done by Portuguese Customs during the past year, warning to the urgent need to further develop awareness campaigns in order to combat threats to safety and public health caused by the trade and consumption of these products.
